Making Stockport Safer
Making Stockport Safer: Our Plan For You
Keeping our community safe is a top priority for Stockport Liberal Democrats. While 93% of residents feel safe and we've cut recorded crime by 11%, we know there's more work to do – and your Lib Dem team won't stop until every community feels safe.
We've already taken the first major step by establishing the One Stockport Safety Partnership, bringing together the Council, police, fire service, probation, victim support and youth services. This joined-up approach means agencies work together to tackle crime and support victims more effectively.
But we're not stopping there. We're pushing forward with a new Domestic Abuse Hub to better support victims, a Reducing Re-Offending Board to break the cycle of crime, and expanding R Time to give young people positive opportunities.
Liberal Democrats nationally have set out a comprehensive plan for effective policing, including specialist courts to steer repeat offenders towards rehabilitation and rebuilding trust through mandatory vetting standards. We're calling for sustainable funding for violence against women and girls support services, specialist VAWG taskforces in every police force, and ensuring police have the technology and specialist officers they need to tackle modern crime effectively.
Stockport Parliamentary Candidate Alice Delemare said: "Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home and on their streets. Alongside our Safety Partnership and targeted action on the issues residents raise with me, we're implementing Liberal Democrat policies that tackle crime head-on while rebuilding trust in policing and ensuring our communities get the support they deserve."
