Save Stepping Hill

The Lib Dem campaign to save our local hospital

Stepping Hill Hospital is at a critical crossroads. Our local hospital, which serves hundreds of thousands of people across Stockport and beyond, is facing a staggering £134 million repair backlog. While recent improvements to A&E and outpatient areas are welcome, many buildings remain outdated or unsafe, with parts already condemned.

The situation has become even more urgent as local NHS leaders have been ordered to find £41 million in savings this year alone. This threatens the very future of services our community depends on.

That's why Stockport Liberal Democrats launched a campaign to demand urgent Government investment in Stepping Hill. Over 6,000 residents have already signed our petition, which Cheadle MP Tom Morrison, Hazel Grove MP Lisa Smart, and Council Leader Mark Roberts delivered directly to 10 Downing Street.

Alice Delemare, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Stockport, said: "Stepping Hill Hospital is the heart of our community, and 6,000 signatures show just how much residents care about its future. The £134 million repair backlog and the pressure to make cuts are completely unacceptable. Our NHS staff and patients deserve better, and I'll keep fighting alongside our team until this Government delivers the investment Stepping Hill desperately needs."

But we need your help. The more signatures we gather, the stronger our message to Government. Stepping Hill serves our community – and our community won't accept cuts to vital health services.

Sign the petition today and help us save Stepping Hill Hospital.
