Lib Dems Launch Campaign to Make Davenport Station Accessible for All

Stockport Liberal Democrats have launched a major campaign to make Davenport station accessible for everyone, after years of passengers being forced to use steps to reach the platforms.
The station currently has no lifts or ramps, meaning wheelchair users, parents with pushchairs, elderly residents, and anyone with heavy luggage cannot use the station independently. This leaves huge numbers of people in the community unable to access their local transport links.
Local campaigner Alice Delemare, who is leading the campaign, said: "It's simply not fair that so many people in our community are cut off from using their local station. Whether you're a mum with a buggy, someone with a disability, or an older person who struggles with stairs – you deserve to travel by train like everyone else."
The Lib Dems are calling on the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and the Government to include Davenport in their next round of accessibility improvements. The campaign includes a petition demanding urgent action.
Alice added: "In 2025, basic accessibility shouldn't be too much to ask. We're fighting to make sure Davenport isn't left behind, and we won't stop until everyone can use their local station."
