Alice Delemare Opposes Labour's Mandatory Digital ID Plans

Alice Delemare has spoken out strongly against Labour's plans to require everyone in the UK to have mandatory digital ID, warning it threatens privacy and will exclude vulnerable people.
Keir Starmer's government says digital ID will be compulsory, forcing people to turn over their private data just to go about their daily lives. Alice warns this will be especially damaging to millions of older people, those living in poverty, and disabled people – who are more likely to be digitally excluded.
Alice said: "This isn't the kind of country we want to be – one where people are forced to hand over their private data or risk being treated as criminals. People shouldn't face punishment just because they can't have a digital ID, or choose not to. This is government overreach, plain and simple."
Liberal Democrats have a strong track record of defending civil liberties and standing up for people's freedom and privacy. The party successfully fought against Labour's ID card plans in the past.
Alice added: "We fought Labour's ID cards before, and we won. We will fight tooth and nail to oppose these plans too. Privacy and freedom matter, and I'll always stand up for those principles."
