Cllr Alice Delemare

Councillor for Davenport & Cale Green

In May 2026, Alice was elected as the Liberal Democrat councillor for Davenport and Cale Green, gaining the seat from Labour. She wants to thank every resident who placed their trust in her to represent Adswood, Cale Green, Davenport and Shaw Heath, and also pays tribute to outgoing councillor Wendy Wild for her years of service to our area.

Alice is a Stockport person through and through. She grew up in the area, and today is raising her own two young children here. That personal connection is at the heart of everything she does. As a mother, she understands firsthand the pressures facing families, from the cost of living to accessing good local services, and it is what drives her to fight for the kind of community where everyone can thrive. She currently works for an organisation leading the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy, and has spent over 15 years campaigning on social and environmental justice, taking on powerful interests and winning real change on issues from clean energy to plastic pollution. That same determination is what she brings to her role as your local councillor.

Whether you voted for her or not, Alice is here to work for everyone in Davenport and Cale Green. From fixing potholes and tackling fly-tipping to leading the bigger campaigns the area needs, she is committed to delivering real change for this community. Politics can feel distant and remote, but Alice believes that when local people and their councillor work together, they can take on even the biggest challenges and win.

One of her top priorities is securing step-free access at Davenport Station. Too many residents, including those with disabilities, parents with pushchairs, and older people, are being let down by a station that excludes them. Alice is pushing hard at Stockport Council and with Transport for Greater Manchester to make sure Davenport Station works for everyone, and will not drop this campaign until the community gets the result it deserves.

Alice is also leading the campaign for a safe pedestrian crossing on Garners Lane. Right now, there is a 0.7-mile gap between the nearest crossings, a stretch that takes around 15 minutes to walk and is used every day by parents with young children, school pupils, and disabled residents. That is simply not good enough on a busy road that has already seen serious incidents. Alice is calling on Stockport Council to install a safe crossing between Sterndale Road and Roslyn Road without delay, and wants to hear from every resident who wants to see this happen.

She is also fighting to protect and improve the green spaces that make Davenport and Cale Green such a great place to live. Local parks and open spaces matter, and Alice will stand up against any proposals that threaten them while pushing for new investment to make them even better for families and future generations.

But being a councillor is not just about the big campaigns. It is about the everyday issues that affect residents' quality of life, and making sure people have someone in their corner when things go wrong. Whether it is a pothole that keeps getting ignored, a planning application causing concern, problems with bins, or worries about anti-social behaviour, Alice wants to hear about it. Her job is to help cut through the frustration and get things sorted. No issue is too small, and nobody should feel they have nowhere to turn.

The result in May also sent a clear message about the political landscape in Davenport and Cale Green. Reform's vote tripled, and their divisive politics are a real threat to the community. Alice is determined that Davenport and Cale Green remains a place where people come together rather than being pulled apart. There is much work to do, and she is ready to get started.
